Sampler
The Pitch: a scientist who roams the world, collecting samples of strange creatures and powerful monsters. Whether tissue, blood, breath, or other exotic materials, the Sampler learns how to replicate the most useful effects from their samples, then bottle it for later use in battle. Inspired by the Final Fantasy Blue Mage & Chemist jobs.
The Build:
- Gourmet 2 (Cooking 1, Traveling Cook 1), Chimerist 2 (Spell Mimic 1, Ritual Chimerism), Loremaster 1 (Knowledge Is Power)
- Favored attributes: INS > WLP > any
- Equipment: Either Crossbow (150z) or Steel Dagger (150z), Combat Tunic (150z), Bronze Shield (100z) if you took the Dagger
Variations:
- Replace Knowledge Is Power with Focused to be the Study-bot for your group
- Replace Loremaster with Wayfarer for a companion, Tavern Talk, or other utility
Strategy:
- Early on, you’ll be rolling INS+INS to attack, using a combination of Chimerist spells and Cooking to contribute to combat
- Out of combat, you can use Chimerist Rituals to do neat stuff with the monster parts you’re lugging around
- The downside is that your capabilities, both from Gourmet and Chimerist, are largely random - but maybe this is a selling point?
- Developing Gourmet: more Cooking and Traveling Cook, Salt and Pepper for more control over your delicacies
- Developing Chimerist: more Spell Mimic, Consume to recover MP, Feral Speech
- Developing Loremaster: Flash of Insight and Focused to study monsters more effectively
